Who We Are

TUWA is an organization dedicated to providing networking and activities for those new to campus and a forum for those interested in supporting the development and growth of women on campus. Founded in 1910, TUWA has grown to include members in all aspects of the campus community and now creates and provides fora for lectures, book clubs, artistic pursuits, exhibits, tours, activity groups, informative classes and conferences, and social events.

President’s Message

Rebecca Kelly

Newcomb College ‘90

I’m Rebecca Kelly, and I have the tremendous honor of serving as president of the Tulane University Women’s Association for the 2023-2024 school year. I follow in the footsteps of more than one hundred remarkable, dedicated women who have guided this organization with unparalleled enthusiasm — propelling the organization forward while retaining a deep regard for its long-held tradition of partnership with the Tulane community. My situation is rather unique in that my mother-in-law is a Newcomb College alumna and a dedicated TUWA member for over 40 years. I graduated from Newcomb College with a BA in English, and last year, my daughter embarked on her own Tulane experience as a Master’s Student in Structural and Cellular Biology. I am extremely grateful that I will have Margaret and Kathleen’s advice, as well as the guidance of recent TUWA presidents during the year ahead.

On several occasions over the past year, TUWA has partnered with Tulane’s ALAAMEA Affinity Groups, embracing the opportunity to introduce TUWA to more faculty, staff, alumni, and their families. By marrying TUWA’s traditions with new outreach programs and activity groups, the 2023-2024 Board hopes to facilitate more opportunities for member engagement with the broader Tulane community. My thanks to the membership and the TUWA Board for giving me this opportunity to take the helm of this truly unique organization.
